Allergic to fetal monitor?
Posted by admin
Naka asked:
At my clinic, I was put on the fetal monitor that checks the baby’s heartbeat and your contractions. When I got home, I noticed I had three red circles on my belly, like some kind of irritation. And when I returned for my next appointment a week later, I mentioned it to the nurse and she tried a different gel. But the same thing happpened! Does anyone know why I got that, or how to prevent it?

Maybe they are putting the monitor on a little too tight.

it sounds like you are allergic to the glue that’s on the little sticky pads that they put on you when they want to monitor the baby’s heartbeat. it has nothing to do with the gel. the same thing happened to a friend of mine, and that’s what it turned out to be.

More than likely you are allergic to the glue on the monitoring patches they put on your belly. They must need to use the patches, so its a double edged sword.
