asked: Umm, how does this work exactly? I think I’m pregnant, and I would be 13weeks. My fiancĂ© bought me a fetal heart monitor and I was wondering how that works and if I could find out if I’m pregnant with it. I know what it is, I just want to know if I heard another heart beat if I could determine whether I’m pregnant or not.

asked: I’m only 10 weeks. I havent had a scan yet. But where can I get a reasonably priced fetal dobbler where I can listen to the heartbeat at 10 weeks? Nothing too pricey, just want to put my mind at ease. I’ve tried eBay but nothing really caught my eye. Any suggestions??

Moey Moey asked: hi there,
I was 30 weeks and 6 days of pregnancy last week when they took ultrasounds. They measured my baby weight was 1.1kg and they said it’s underweight and they put me through CGT test to monitor the baby’s heartbeat and behavior. So far is good, the heartbeat is good about 147 and the moving is quite active too… and yesterday I’m 31 weeks and 1 day, and the doctor measured my tummy and said it’s 28cm.
The doctor still concerns of the baby’s smaller size but want to make sure whether it’s a genetic or something. I’m really worried as I heard some of people told me, smaller baby could be born abnormal and retarded… Could anyone tell me what is the average size and weight? and is this normal? where can I check for the fetal weight and size by week of pregnancy?
i really appreciate for the informations. thanks.

Rose asked: I rented an at home fetal dopplar and it works….but the only thing sounding like a heart beat matched my own heartbeat perfectly…so I am fairly certain it wasn’t the babies. I tried for like 40 min and I couldn’t find anything sounding like a horse galloping (like the manual said it would sound like)…I heard the whirl wind sound thats the blood moving in and out of the uterus….but no baby heartbeat. I thought this machine would give me peace of mind…but now I am freaking out. I am 10 weeks preggo…and my doc. ultrasound at 8 weeks said everything was fine…the heartrate was 164 and the baby was the right size and everything…I haven’t had any bleeding or anything…and i feel fine expect for the usual preggo symptoms. I had a full bladder when I used it too…which is what the directions recommended….should I be worried?? I was really expecting to hear the heartbeat…and the monitor can detect it as early as 6 weeks…and Im 10 weeks!!!!

asked: I went to the Dr. today to get a nonstress test done (fetal heart monitor) and It was registering that my contractions were at around 50%, but I didn’t feel them.
I was due last Thursday, and the made an appointment for NEXT Monday to even Talk about inducing…. Is this wierd? It seems like they should induce earlier.
Anyway, I was wondering why I couldn’t feel the contractions, and at what percent that I should.
Thanks.

ddti asked: so I am ttc baby #2 and I have an annual app with an OBGYN, would it be weird to ask her things about her labor and delivery protocol, almost like an OB interview with prenatal and delivery questions, if I am not even pregnant yet???
Questions like:
can I move around, eat & drink in labor?
questions regarding tearing & episiotomies?
induction & fetal monitoring?
etc.
Would that be weird since I am not even pregnant yet? TIA

bee asked: A full term baby’s heart rate is between 110 and 160 bpm, correct? So how can you tell while your in labor if the baby is in distress? Heart rate would drop to WHAT number for HOW LONG?
Is this easy for you, partner or a doula to monitor to ensure doctors aren’t just saying the classic line of, “looks like the baby’s heart rate is dropping, gonna need to go ahead and do a c section.”
Thanks
