fetal monitoring while in labor?

I recently expressed my wish to have as little intervention as possible while in labor to my Dr, including being able to walk, change position, etc. She said that until my water breaks I only need to be on a fetal monitor for 15min/ hr…which is fine with me. She also said that once my water breaks I need to be continually monitored b/c with no fluid the cord is more likely to slip out and cut off oxygen to the baby. My thought is if the babies head is engaged the cord can’t slip out!??! Any suggestions to tactfully approch this with the hospital staff should it become an issue.
