Does anyone have any advice on preterm labor/ fetal fibrinogen tests?
Sunday, October 31st, 2010hey everyone,
I would like to start out by giving you a brief history, I am currently 29 years old, first child, 29 weeks pregnant, non-smoker, healthy, don’t do any drugs or drink. I started 20 days ago with sporadic braxton hick contractions that gradually went to bh contractions every hour on the hour that gradually went into 2-3 an hour. I went to L & D where they put me on the fetal monitor and yes, in deed I was having that many bh. A fetal fibrinogen test was done then and it was negative. The doctor put me on semi bed rest, told me to put my feet up and try to relax and I started taking magnesium gluconate and terbutaline alternating every 4 hours. The majority of the contractions stopped.
The past 3 days, I have had menstral cramping, lower backaches, and my stomach has been off, but I chucked this up to part of the pregnancy. This leads me to today, I went in for a recheck appointment and sonogram. The good news, the baby is measuring 3 weeks ahead of schedule, he’s seems healthy, organs look good, lots of movement. The bad news, my cervix is slightly shorter, no dilation, another fetal fibrinogen test was done….this time it’s positive. I am now starting steriod injections and am on strict bed rest. I realize this just increases my chances of delivering my child dramatically, but what are my chances of delivering in the next week or two? I’m just worried about this situation, if there’s anyone who has any advice on this subject, just throw me a line and I will be greatly appreciative.
