[[My Son Was Born 2.26.09]] asked:

This is from the hospital which I will deliver’s website. Does this mean I HAVE to have an IV? I really didn’t want to have one, and I thought I would have a choice to decline, but this makes it seem mandatory. How do you take it?

Q: Do you have IV’s and fetal monitoring?

A: Our policies and physician orders do predict that every patient in labor will have an IV and fetal monitoring as that is the safest manner in which to deliver your care.
