If in distress I would say it could drop very low or go very high. Around 150 beats per minute is right around normal but there’s a wide range of what’s “normal.” it’s when it goes outside these parameters that it becomes a problem. I think different doctors have different opinions on what constitutes distress.

the heartbeat would drop drastically and either stay down or do up and down. but dont worry babys heart rates drop all the time on the machines b/c they are always moving away from it. the nurse should come in every once in a while and check it(it keeps track on that paper coming out., she would call the doctor if she thought anything was wrong.

Whenever you go to the doctor and they check ur baby’s heart beat they make sure nothing is wrong, and ur baby’s heartbeat will be fast and if it is slow than of course something is wrong because the baby’s heart beat has to remain at a steady constant raate and CANNOT drop. And if something is wrong the doctors will tell you. I know this cause i have two boys and i use to ask alot of questions about the heartbeat. And congratulations, i wish i had a girl. Ur lucky. How old are you anyways.
