Painful fetal movement versus BH?

January 15th, 2012 | Posted in Fetal Monitors   Comments Off
Chaela <3 asked:

I went up to the hospital about 35 weeks because I was having some lower abdominal pain. They hooked me up to the monitor and saw that I wasnt having contractions BUT the baby was moving quite a bit. They even gave me an ultrasound to make sure the baby wasnt head up digging her feet into my lower abdomen but all checked out fine and they just assumed it was the movement the baby was making that was hurting so bad, after that day the pain stopped but of course fetal movement kept its course. now Im 37.5 and started having contractions 3 days ago after having sex now Im having muscus discharge and BH but the pain started back up. i dont know if its a contraction or if its the baby moving, if its the baby wouldnt i feel t everytime she moves?

Decreased Fetal movement.doc wants to induce.huge decision to make.your opinions/advice?

January 15th, 2012 | Posted in Fetal Monitors   Comments Off
asked:

So its my decision im 40weeks and 2days.ive been having reduced fetal movement and have been on the monitor checking that baby is ok a few times now.babies heartbeat is about 125 and even managed to get bub to move a couple times with ice water. But my doc says that the reduced movements make her a little anixous and wants me to seriously consider induction. But its my choice obviously.. Im not too concerned about the extra painful contractions as i am concerned about baby and whether or not induction will cause her to go into distress. But i feel like my options are to wait however long counting kicks and risk that something could be wronge causing the reduced movement or option 2 to be induced and risk baby being distressed with extra stronge contractions that werent her idea.i have a midwife appointment today and was thinking of getting another membrane sweep(now im overdue im hoping it will work) followed by evening primrose oil then a walk and if this doesnt work maybe just keep a eye on the movements and making an induction date from say 6 days from now.i am gettingg about 10 kicks a day from when i wake to when i go to bed. And before they became reduced about 6days ago i was getting 20 or more as baby has been a very active little one since i first started feeling her movements.i really want it to happen naturally but i am worn out (also have a toddler)and dont know if i can keep trying all these different things to bring it on ive done a s*** load of walking, some squatting, sex everyday for 4days, curry.and had 2 other membrane sweeps at 39wks and 39+2days some of these things gave me mild irregular contractions but didnt work.im 2-3cm dilated and 90% effaced.whats your thoughts mummys? Nurses? Docs?

Has anyone else ever rented a fetal doppler heart rate monitor?

January 11th, 2012 | Posted in Fetal Monitors   Comments Off
asked:

I’m 18 weeks and we rented a fetal doppler heart rate monitor from Belly Beats on the internet. We were able to hear the heartbeat the first 2 nights, but for the last 2 we haven’t been able to find it. I don’t know how reliable these dopplers are, so I don’t know if I should worry or what. What do you think? Let me know your experience.

Help? At home fetal dopplar is scaring the crap outta me?

January 8th, 2012 | Posted in Fetal Monitors   Comments Off
Rose asked:

I rented an at home fetal dopplar and it works….but the only thing sounding like a heart beat matched my own heartbeat perfectly…so I am fairly certain it wasn’t the babies. I tried for like 40 min and I couldn’t find anything sounding like a horse galloping (like the manual said it would sound like)…I heard the whirl wind sound thats the blood moving in and out of the uterus….but no baby heartbeat. I thought this machine would give me peace of mind…but now I am freaking out. I am 10 weeks preggo…and my doc. ultrasound at 8 weeks said everything was fine…the heartrate was 164 and the baby was the right size and everything…I haven’t had any bleeding or anything…and i feel fine expect for the usual preggo symptoms. I had a full bladder when I used it too…which is what the directions recommended….should I be worried?? I was really expecting to hear the heartbeat…and the monitor can detect it as early as 6 weeks…and Im 10 weeks!!!!

What percent of pregnant ladies completely avoid all ultrasound during pregnancy?

January 8th, 2012 | Posted in Fetal Monitors   Comments Off
pennypincher asked:

I am referring to the sonogram, doppler, and the electronic fetal monitor.
So do you think it is less than 5%? I am referring to ladies who get prenatal care.
The baby get checked with the fetascope, not the doppler.

fetal heart monitor-which is best?

January 1st, 2012 | Posted in Fetal Monitors   Comments Off
smallfeetz asked:

I would like to buy a fetal heart rate monitor. I had a miscarriage before and currently I am 12w3d and a high risk pregnancy. So I really want to be able to know everything is okay rather than waiting two weeks to see a doctor.

Which brand is best? Any advice on what to look for?

Fair Settlement for Car Accident?

December 28th, 2011 | Posted in Fetal Monitors   Comments Off
qmge81a asked:

My wife & unborn child were in a car accident 5 weeks ago. The girl at fault swirved into oncoming traffic due to self admitted driver inattention(swirved to miss a line of stopped cars)and struck the drivers side of my wife’s car as she was turning left onto our street. My wife was rushed to the hospital & spent an hour in the ER and 5 hours hooked to a fetal monitor. My wife’s left wrist was injured(X-ray taken at hospital showed no breaks but sprained). The baby had a steady heartbeat, but they could not say with certainty if she was uninjured. Our baby was born 9-8-07 and seems to have no injuries from the accident.

The girl at fault never notified her insurance company of the accident. We had to notify them after getting the police report. All our calls to her insurance company went unreturned for 3 weeks, when they finally gave us a rental car. They wrote us a check for our car(totalled). I’d rather not involve a lawyer so I want to know what an acceptable offer would be.
They offered a reasonable amount for the car. $4,250 for a 1996 Toyota Camry with 250,000 miles. We took the check, but have not signed a release. They have not made an offer for pain and suffering, or injuries as they were waiting for the baby to be born. Our insurance paid for medical bills which we need restitution ($2000). BTW, the girl at fault has still not contacted her insurance company, and all contact numbrs they have for her are disconnected.

Have any of you had excess amniotic fluid (polyhydramnois)?

December 23rd, 2011 | Posted in Fetal Monitors   Comments Off
Cole Jameson is here! asked:

Have any of you ladies had excess amniotic fluid? I’m a day shy of being 38 weeks and found out through an ultrasound I have excess fluid. Now I have to go 3 times a week to be put on the fetal monitor until birth comes. I’m just wondering how your experiences went with it. I can only seem to find the same information over and over on the web, just basic clinical stuff. Any info would be appreciated! I’m worried.
